International Aerosol Fellow Award

Past award recipients

This year the International Aerosol Research Assembly bestows the International Aerosol Fellow award. The ceremony will take place at the International Aerosol Conference in Athens, Greece 4-9 September 2022.

International Aerosol Fellow Award is granted to recognize outstanding contributions to Aerosol Science and Technology through research, technical development, education and service. Nominations of candidates for the award are invited. The nominator must be a member of an IARA member society, but the nominee can be any individual, both inside and outside IARA member societies. Nominations should be submitted directly to the Committee Chair by 1 April 2022. The Committee encourages all aerosol scientists to nominate persons for this outstanding award and keep diversity in mind when considering whom to nominate.

Details of the Nomination Procedure


1. AWARD

  1. The International Aerosol Fellow Award is granted by the International Aerosol Research Assembly (IARA) to recognize outstanding contributions to Aerosol Science and Technology through research, technical development, education and service.
  2. The award is given once every two years to up to two individuals. The award is presented by the President of IARA or his/her representative at the International Aerosol Conference or at the annual meeting of an IARA member society.

2. NOMINATION

  1. Nominations of candidates for the award are invited by public announcements and by letters to individuals and institutions with interests in Aerosol Science and Technology. The nominator must be a member of an IARA member society, but the nominee can be any individual, both inside and outside IARA member societies.
  2. Nomination is made by a full letter of justification, including a curriculum vitae and a bibliography. A maximum of five supporting letters will be considered.
  3. Nominations will not be carried over to the following award period. Only living nominees will be considered.
  4. The nomination material is to be submitted to the Committee chair by 1 April 2022.

3. SELECTION

  1. The Award committee consists of six members selected by the IARA delegates and appointed by the IARA President. The committee may include one or more IARA delegates and other individuals drawn from IARA member societies. The committee reviews all nominations in a closed session on a one vote per member basis.
  2. The award committee has the discretionary power to not select winners of the award in any given period.
  3. The award consists of a certificate and a citation.
